Antidepressant may be appropriate for severe cravings

DEAR DR. GOTT: I quit smoking one year ago. After about two months, I really had this craving for something and subsequently developed an out-of-control snacking, eating problem. I seem to always be trying to eat something I don’t have. Anyway, the doctor gave me Budeprion XL 150 mg to take once a day. I haven’t tried it because I am afraid to since I have been told by a friend they can cause seizures. I really need something to help me.

I have been trying on my own to solve this craving, raging desire within me. I have gained 35 pounds. I hate to look in the mirror to get ready to go anywhere and try to only go where I absolutely have to. They have harped so much about smoking being so bad.
