DEAR DR. GOTT: I have been diagnosed with tibial tendonitis. I recovered from a left tibial fracture (the second one in two years) in June 2010 and then twisted my left ankle which resulted in the tendonitis condition. After two months of suffering, orthotics were recommended by the physical therapist and made by another physical therapist in another practice. They have worked wonders reducing pain almost immediately.
My question is, what are the chances the tendon is ruptured and how long will it take to recuperate should I not need surgery. An MRI has not yet been done. Do you have any advice on what treatment I should add to my regimen if any? I take 600 mg ibuprofen for pain.
